Q: I know I have to do my best, but hand positions are very difficult and impossible for me to raise my left hand. Can I use my right hand instead?

A: It is better to go in the direction of the exercise or meditation versus change or adapt the posture. Do the parts of the meditation that you can do and handle the missing part as a subtle posture. Using the subtle body to do a part or all of the meditation is doing the technique or posture without using your body. It is not the same as imagining yourself doing the posture or technique.

Do the best possible, use common sense, and avoid feeling bad about limitations. An older body or injured body can still get the result through the same dedication. The instruction given will be the ideal instruction, and the practice is to learn it and repeat it over time, not to force perfection in a single session.
